MARTINBOROUGH CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Martinborough Golf Club was held last evening. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mrs W. J. Martin; vice-pre-sidents, Mrs Geo Pain, Messrs F. Wall, J. Martin, H. W. Blundell, J. D. McDougall and A. F. Harding; club captain, Mr W. G. Martin; vice-captain, Mr H. W. Blundell; management committee, Messrs N. C. D. Mason, D. R. Matheson, J. Martin, K. Arthur, J. T. L. Pike, A. R. Morrison and S. Martin; auditor, Mr K. Arthur; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr H. F. Harvey; ladies committee, Mrs J. McAllum (club catpain), Mesdames Marflitt, Frank, Moore, Knutson, Misses M. C. Martin, M. S. Martin and M. Harvey (hon. sec.)' In the annual report, which was adopted, the committee recorded its deep regret of the deaths of Mrs E. G. Barker and Messrs W. J. Sleeth and A. B. Balfour, former members of the club. The membership of the club stood at 96, a decrease of 17 as compared with 1936. The drop in membership and the resultant loss of subscriptions had caused the committee grave concern. The season, ended with a debit bank balance of £37/1/6. It was proposed to increase the subscriptions in order to lessen the bank overdraft and meet the increase in labour costs. During the season the ladies played three matches, winning two and losing one. The men played nine matches, winning four, losing three, one being halved and one abandoned. The winners of the various championship cups and handicap trophies were: Ladies’ senior championship, Mrs Frank; ladies junior championship, Miss K. Martin; men's senior championship, S. W. Martin; men’s junior championship, D. R. Mattheson; men’s C grade championship, A. B. Martin; Kitchening Cup, Mrs Frank; Martin Cup, A. F. Harding; J. D. McDougall Challenge Rosebowl, Mrs Frank; captain’s trophy, L. W. Frank; L. G. U. Silver Medal, Miss Harvey; L. G. U. Bronze Medal, Miss K. Martin. The committee expressed thanks to the president, Mrs W. J. Martin for her continued financial support and keen interest in the welfare of the club, and to Messrs. L. Chapman, J. Wall, Mahood, J. D. McDougall, A. B. Martin and W. G. Martin.
