HEROIC FIREMAN
LIVES OF FIVE MEN SAVED DRAGGED OUT OF BURNING COLLIERY. FOLLOWING ON EXPLOSION. (Received This Day, 1.10"p.m.) HINTON (Alberta), March 31. The heroism of William Aitken, Fire Chief, saved five lives when an explosion and fire at a colliery trapped ten miners. Mr Aitken made five trips into the flames, dragging an injured man to the entrance each. He was badly burned. Five others were killed.
