Heating at School.

Following temperature readings taken over a period by the resident engineer of the Public Works Department, Mr F. L. Park, it has been decided that variations in the temperature in the thermal spring adjacent to the Rotorua primary school are too great to make it practicable to utilise the spring for heating the new school buildings shortly to be erected. A suggestion that the spring should be utilised for this purpose was made some time ago, and on the instructions of the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, data was collected to ascertain whether the spring would be suitable for the purpose. In view of the report submitted by Mr Park, the Minister has now notified Mr A. F. Moncur, M.P., that the proposal to use the spring for heating purposes will be abandoned, and that a central heating system of the usual type will be installed.
