Mr. M. W. Grant, of Ihuraua, leaves this week on an extended visit to Sydney. Mrs B. R. Bunny and Miss Betty Bunny, Masterton, who have been visiting Christchurch, have left for Dunedin.

The death occurred at Auckland after a brief illness of Miss Floss Hamilton, niece of the late Mrs. C. A. Tabuteau, who was well known in Masterton.

The engagement is announced between Annette Gertrude Madeline, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Pilbrow, Lower Hutt, and Arthur Rowland, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Simmonds, South Featherston. Mr. R. H. Nimmo, of Wellington, who is leaving Wellington to-day for an extended trip overseas, was on Tuesday evening the guest at dinner of the executives and senior members of the staff of H. Nimmo and Sons, Ltd. In making Mr. Nimmo a presentation, the secretary of the company, Mr. L. D. Kerr, assured Mr. Nimmo and the directors of the loyalty and co-operation of the staff. The various branch managers also extended to the general manager every good wish for a pleasant trip. In reply, Mr. Nimmo thanked the staff for their loyalty and co-operation and for their good wishes and the presentation, which he was proud to accept. Mr. H. Nimmo, the managing director, and Mr. A. JNimmo, acting general manager, also took the opportunity of thanking the staff for their expressions of loyalty.
