A POLICY OF PROGRESS
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE “TIMES-AGE? MEETING THE GROWING REQUIREMENTS OF THE WAIRARAPA. NEW DEVELOPMENT IN NEWSPAPER ENTERPRISE. The establishment of the “Wairarapa Times-Age, which makes its first appearance to-day, is the outcome of an amalgamation of the “Wairarapa Daily Times” Company and the Wairarapa Age Company. The two companies feel that in combining to give the Wairarapa an improved news and publicity service, they are pursuing a progressive policy, which is not only desirable from their own standpoint, but should work out with considerable advantage to the district and its people. With the resources of both companies concentrated upon the production of one up-to-date evening paper, the service given hitherto by two competing papers will be supplemented, improved upon, and, it is hoped, carried out better, more comprehensively, and in every way more effectively. The “Wairarapa Times-Age” will provide a complete service of news of all kinds —overseas, Dominion and district. While due at- ' tention will be paid to external affairs and events, arrangements are being made to give all parts of this extensive and important district a publicity service which will fully satisfy its needs. Local affairs and interests throughout the district will receive adequate notice, and the aim methodically pursued will be that of bringing all sections of the population in their various activities and concerns in town and country into effective touch and understanding. Every confidence is felt that in performing its appointed task broadly on these lines, the “Wairarapa Times-Age” will be able, as time goes on, to render highly important, helpful and acceptable service in contributing to the advancement and further development of our. district, the economic and other possibilities of which are so far still from having been turned fully to account. The proprietors hope that the paper will earn in full measure the support of the community in general: It is anticipated also that business people will appreciate the facilities the “Wairarapa Times-Age” is able to offer them of getting into ready touch with the buying public in all parts of the Wairarapa. ‘ j As may be gathered from these pages, effort and expense have not been spared in building up a staff and material organisation capable of doing full justice to the news and publicity requirements of the district. A first-class modern building has been erected and equipped with a thoroughly up-to-date and efficient plant. Some particulars are given of the new establishment and its equipment, as well as of the history of the two papers which have combined their resources in order to render an extended and more effective service to the public.
