Miss Dunn, of Mauriceville, will leave shortly on a trip to England and America. Mrs Alan Hornblow, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs W. H. Saunders, Essex Street. Mr and Mrs Robert Dawson, of Essex Street, Masterton, celebrated their golden wedding on Wednesday last. Mr and Mrs I. I. McGregor, of Worksop Road, who left Masterton on Wednesday by service car for Wellington en route to England, were accorded a surprise send off. A large number of Masterton lady friends of Mrs McGregor journeyed to Waingawa, and as the service car was passing along the road the driver was astonished to see on each side strung out at intervals for a considerable distance these ladies waving flags, etc. Knowing he had Mr and Mrs McGregor on board the driver sensed a “farewell,” and obligingly slowed down to a snail’s pace, passing through the long line of waving, cheering ladies, to the evident great delight of Mr and Mrs McGregor who suitably acknowledged this unusual and unexpected farewell several miles from Masterton.
