FEATHERSTON ROAD DISTRICT.

The annual meeting of the Fcatherston ■electors was held yesterday, for the transaction ot the ordinary business as required under die “ District Highways Act, 1867” Mr. Bunny, who occupied the chair, said, that this meeting was called by advertisement which [was read. Previous to going to business be would state that during the past year the Board had levied the agreed rates to the amount of £205 Is. 10d., to that amount Mr. Revans had added £2OO for the formation of the Underhill Road from the Taubercnikau Contracts had been taken by the Board for this road and for Donald’s road. Mr. Hayward's service had been engaged as overseer of the Roads, he being a most competent person to sec that the work was really carried out according to contract. This he felt sure would meet with the approval of the meeting One of’ Jlhe duties of..the meeting would be to andit the accounts. They would also have to close a board of Wardens and fix a rate. He would consider the present Wardens out of office as soon as the accounts were audited, when he would be happy to vacate the chair in favor of whoever they might appoint, He would be glad to render the new board any assistance in his power to enable them to get on. They would find that every thing was perfectly straight and czsv. There was at present a balance of about £IOO in the Provincial chest.

Messrs J. Tucker, and Donald were appointed to audit the accounts which they accordingly did.

Mr Bunny then vacated the chair hut was ■ananimously re-elected to it. The following gentlemen were then elected to fill the office ot Wardens for the ensuing fir. Messrs Bunny, Nicholi, Tucker, Donald, tlby Jackson, and Yule.

Mr. Jackson proposed that the rate be 3d for construction. Mr. Donald moved that it be the same as last year. The” original proposition was carried by nine to six. Mr Tucker proposed a penny repairing rate on the understanding that it was not to be be levied unless required. Carried unanimously.
