London Wool Report. —Mr Helmith Schwartz report of Nov. 23 runs as follows: The sales opened on the 14th November, since when the following wools have been catalogued : —Port Philip, 4812 bales; Sydney. 7329; Adelaide, 968 ; Van Dieman’s Land, 39S bales. We have a fair attendance of home buyers, but only few foreigners. Prices have fallen 2d below September rates. I quote average Sydney, scoured, Is. 9d; ditto, fleece, Is. Cd.; ditto grease, 7d. Average Port Phillip, scoured, Is.; 10; ditto, fleece, Is Bd.; ditto, grease, 91d. Average Cape, snow white. Is 6d.; ditto, scoured, Is., ditto, fleece, Is. Oid.; ditto grease, 6d. A very bad business and* an undeniable over production of wool are the main causes of this fresh decline, the former may probably improve, but the latter must necesarily continue its influence. The supply of Australian sorts being limited, more competition and firmness were expected for them; but it appears that stocks are adequate to the requirements of the next three or four months. To cope with 'foe increased supplies Of the new clip, without lowering the present fates, a livelier business may, it is to be hoped, grow up between now and spring. As for Capes, the prices should be sufficiehtly low to inspire manufacturer with confidence, hut it is imposibln as yet to see any such result. ’ The sales draw along without the trade seems afraid to operate heyond its immediate wants, and speculators still hold aloof entirely. There were hut 87,430 bales of fi esh arrivals for these sales, but a considerable quantity, say about 20,000 bales, appear to have been held over from former series. It is to hoped that holders will fallow their usual course and clear out at the end of the year, for the market in spring will, forsooth, he sufficiently supplied not to need the additional encumbrance of old stocks. Hoose-Flies.—these flies may be effectually destroyed by placing half a spoonful of pow dered black pepper on a t'easipoonfal ‘of brown sugar, and one teaspoonful of mixed cream; mix them well together, and place in a room where the flies arc troublesome, and they will soon disappear.
