THE PANAMA MAIL.
Tlie s.s, Kaikoura arrived in Wellington on Friday morning, amongst tlie passenger’s names we notice that of MrFox, who has since he leftN.Z. been travelling through Europe and the Holy Land. His arrival has been hailed with satisfaction throughout the colony—as he is looked upon as “ the coming man,” and as a thoroughlyhonest, able and straightforward politician. The Earl of Pembroke and Mr Morrison were also passengers, the former is travelling for the benefit of his health, the latter on business connected with the Kennard contracts. When the vessel was at St. Thomas, the earthquake previously mentioned occurred, not submerging up Tortola island as before stated, but causing damage to a very large amount. Mr and Mrs Fox, and Mr Morrison had a narrow escape of their lives. In consequence of the hurry and confusion caused a portion of the mail was left behind at Panama.
