TAX PAYERS AND TAX EATERS.

The following ministerial advice to the taxpayers of the colony is given in the editorial mlniiim of the Government organ of Monday last, which if given to the tax-eaters of th e colony, would be more to the purpose, and might prove more serviceable. The “ Advertiser,” after very properly observing that the burthens we bear is followed by the distrust which ever accompanies a too profuse expenditure, remarks: — The feet is, we must take to a low diet for a .few years, and enjoy ourselves by chewing the bitter cud of reflection, which will be found a bracing tonic. It k no use making feces and pouting, the draught is to be “ taken immediately,” and the sooner our eyes are shut and our months are open, the better. The advice thus gratuitously tendered to the colonists we call upon Parliament to address to out army of officials. They hare been

living in clover and they now require to chew the bitter cud of reflection. They do not require a tonic to brace their appetites but physic to reduce their corporations. It is no use making faces and pouting, because, if the House doe g its duty, they will insist upon the draught being taken immediately, and any one who looks over the Estimates will say that if this is done at once it will not be a moment too ■soon.
