PRAIRIE OAT GRASS.

(To the Editor of the Wairarapa Mercury. Sib, —Being frequently asked for Prairie Grass seed, I will give your readers my three years experience of it. The largest has a large hard seed. The first year I sowed 40lbs of this seed on 50 rods of good land, I mowed it twice in the months of April and December. I got abundance of seed, but both cuts was only equal to one cut of cocksfoot and trefoil. The second year I cut it but once, a great deal of it had died out, and other grasses taken its place. The third year it had nearly all disappeared, and the following grasses had taken its place, rye, meadow, sweet vernal, crested dog's tail, poapretensis, poa trivialis, and cocksfoot. It was grazed each winter with cattle. Sheep kill it in two years. Your's truly, I-J
