WANGANUI AND WAIRARAPA.

It appears from returns laid on the Council table that a sum exceeding £22,718 was expended in Wanganui duing the last financial year, while the amount of revenue derived from that district was only £16,832. Look on that picture and then on this. During the last financial year the revenue received from the Wairarapa amounted to over £21,654, while the money expended in the district was only £9,300. From this it will be seen that over £II,OOO of land revenue, saying nothing of Customs’ revenue, has been taken from this district, and that no less than £6,000 of it has found its way to Wanganui. We appeal to the members for the city of Wellington to prevent by their votes this robbery being longer continued. Failing justice from the Provincial Council, the district must appeal to the General Assembly for redress.
