MR BUNNY AND THE FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
(To the Editor of the Waibakapa Mercury.) Fcatherston, May 6, 1867. Sir, —The inhabitants of Grey town and Masterton will see by the resolutions passed by the ratepayers of Fcatherston on Saturday last, that the settlers of Fcatherston have taken measures to remedy the present disgraceful state of affairs in their district, and that the endeavors of Mr Bunny to alter the form of rating under the Highway’s Act, does not coincide with their opinions. I think the settlers of Greytown, Carterton, and Masterton will do wisely if they were to back up the Fcatherston settlers by taking a like course, there being no doubt that a severe blow will be struck at the small-farmers and all others who are anxious for improvement, (and no one I think will deny that road-ma-making is a vast improvement), should Mr Bunny secceed in carrying his measure. It is astonishing that a gentleman who advocates railways and other improvements as Mr Runny does, should endeavor to oppose anything which tends to the advancement of the district, and it is palpable from his present line of action, that when our interests clash with his, that he will cast us on one side. Trusting that the settlers of this district will bestir themselves, and do so speedily. I am, Sir, &c. VOX POPULI.
