B. & C. GRIGG, Proprietors “ Wairarapa Mercury.” Greytown, April 12, 1867. CHAVANNE’S NEW ZEALANDER HOTEL, MANNERS STREET, WELLINGTON. TO CORRESPONDENTS. ILK.—We are assured on good authorisy that the report that Mr. Kennard had secured the services of Mr. Bunny in the Provincial Council is not true. Mr. Kennard had letters of introduction from England to gentlemen resident in this district and he came up here merely on a pleasure trip. We are gratified to learn that he was much pleased with this, as he designates it, “ beautiful valley.” A Farmer.—(Featherston) complains of the composition of Mr Bunny’s Highways Act Committee. He points out that there is not a single small farmer on the Committee, while four out of the seven are mere town members who know nothing of the working of road boards. “A Farme,r” may be certain that Mr. Bunny knows what he is doing. J.B.—Until the representation of the Provincial Council is re-apportioned it is in vain to expect justice for this district, and we shall not get it then if the settlers “ wont trouble their heads about politics.” J.G.—The Committee appointed to consider and report on the best means of organizing an Agricultural Association, and establishing a Monthly Market in the Wairarapa, will meet at the Rising Sun. at 3 o’clock, on Saturday next. You should by all means attend the meeting. POSTERS, Circulars, Bill-heads, Hand bills, and every description of printing executed at the Wairarapa Mercury Office, on the shortest notice and on the most reasonable terms. *** All orders, advertisements, and communications to be addressed to the Editor Wairarapa Mercury, Mercury Office, Greytown.
