IN PURSUANCE of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled, “ The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, Herbert Samuel Wardell, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Wairarapa East, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ, bearing date the fourth day of April, 1867, issued under the hand of his Honor Isaac Earl Featherston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, an Election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council of Wellington for the said Electoral District, in place of the Honorable Robert Stokes, resigned; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the School House at Masterton on Saturday, the 20th day of April, 1867, at noon, and that the poll (if necessary) will be taken on Saturday, the 27th day of April, 1867.
