TO THE ELECTORS OF EAST WAIRARAPA. Gentlemen, — In consequence of the writ not having been returned within the legal number of days from its date, the late election for your district has been declared void. You have done me the honor, as we supposed, of returning me as your representative in the Provincial Council. The j|formality which has vitiated the elecWn is one for which I am not responsible I hope that on the day of nominatidw of which notice will be shortly given, tnat you will shew that you are not persons of fickle and easily changed opinions. If you are good enough to re-affirm your decision, it will give me great pleasure to serve you faithfully. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant. J. C. ANDREW. Wellington, April 3, 1867. TO THE ELECTORS OF EAST WAIRARAPA. FELLOW SETTLERS— I heard some days ago that some legal difficulties connected with the return, upon nomination, of the Rev. Mr. Andrew to the Council. To day I learn that the return, upon nomination has been disallowed and that another writ for an election must be issued. I did intend to contest the election, but the weather was very bad, and I relied upon my proposer who lived closer at hand to find a seconder, and so cause an election to take place. In this I was disappointed, but the opportunity offering, I again offer my services. Apart from the issue let it be understood that it is my intention that every election shall be contested, thinking the more frequently the people are called upon to take part in public matters, the more advantageous to the interests of the Province and the colony. Your's faithfully, SAMUEL REVANS. Woodside, April 5, 1867.
