ARRIVAL OF MR. AND MRS HASTWELL. Mr and Mrs Hastwell and family had arrived in Wellington from England via Canterbury. They arrived in Canterbury in the ship Hi mi lay a, which vessel had a fine run of 77 days. We are glad to learn that they are in good health and spirits and have no doubt but they will receive a hearty welcome on their arrival here. We learn that Capt Anderson and Mr, J. H. Horner are shipping from Wellington to the South per s.s. Phoebe on Saturday next 75 horses, 40 will be shipped from the West Coast and 30 from this district. We wish their spirited undertaking every success for it is well deserving of it. We glean the following from Saturday’s ‘Evening Post—We are informed upon reliable authority that the gentlemen of the long robe will shortly be engaged fh a case of libel. Both parties are well known in Wellington, and the damages will be laid at £2OOO.
