The Manawatu district can boast of some suppliers of milk on a pretty large scale. One or two farmers are taking over a ton a day to the Rangiotu creamery and the cheese factory! while there are several suppliers of from one-half to three-quarters of a ton. Even with these figures, the flush of the season has not yet been reached.

The Town Band concert and dance on the 2lst. December, promises to be a huge success. Tickets for the art union to be drawn that evening are going off like hot cakes. The valuable first prize, a gold nugget valued at £2O is proving an irresistible draw. There need be no hesitency on the part of intending investors as to the genuineness of the nugget, we have satisfied ourselves on this point and have been authorised by a gentleman who has taken a fancy to it to say, that he will give the winner twenty sovereigns for it. The proceeds of the concert and art union are to be devoted towards providing uniforms for the bandsmen, so that there should be no lack of support for so worthy an object.

Present conditions point to an abundant supply of soft fruits this season, says the "Timaru Post. " In the Waimate district the prospects of a great yield of strawberries and raspberries are excellent. This year there is fully three times more land used for fruit culture than there was a few years ago, and the number of growers has increased from twenty-four to sixty. A few of the growers have as much as about twenty acres of land entirely used for the growing of strawberries. Last year the growers obtained good prices, ranging from to is 2d per lb for the best early yields. It is thought that raspberries will not be dear this season, as the yield promises to be exceptionally heavy.
