BISHOP CROSSLEY AT AWAMUTU.

In : weather Bishop Crfasslcy visited Te_ Awamutu on Wednesday. Owing to the state of the weather it was found necessary to cancel all out district meetings formerly arranged, bi'.t at Te Awamutu on Wednesday His Lt/sdsbj.t> eonducted service in St. John's Church, at which there was a very fair attendance. Immediately after the service a social was held in the Town Hall, but owing to the unfavourable weather the attendance was somewhat small. The Rev. F. W. Clarke presided, and in his opening remarks explained that no fixed programme had been drawn up, the object being to afford an opportunity for an informal chat will the bishop. During a very interesting address His Lordship referred to,the historical surroundings of Te Awamutu, especially those, at St. John's Church, and he urged'upon all to do their utmost to preserve everything of an historical, nature. He also dealt with the moral nnd social advanresulting from the erection of a/parish hall. He was pleased to /eeithat this matter had already been taken up by parishoncrs I

and he hoped that success would reward their efforts. A scheme for the education of the rising clergy was also explained. He was one to discourage low grade education in the clergy, yet there were many obstacles in the way of many a student, and he urged upon the parishioners to do their best to remove these difficulties. There was a great need of clergyin the Dominion at the present time and he alone could place 23 men at that moment.'
