OTOROHANGA.
(Own Mrs Cook gave a most erfl able " Gift Afternoon" on TM day last in aid of the Church bazaar. the weather was bad, and sofl vented a good many from attfl ing. The gifts received vS both prrtty and, useful, and.ißP make a welcome addition to the various stalls. A dainty afternoon tea was provided for the guests. During the afternoon, songs were contributed by Mesdames Cook and Whyte, and Messrs Cook (2). Pianoforte selection by Miss Burnand and duets by Miss Hosking and Mrs Spencer. Mrs Holden held a very enjoyable dance last Saturday night. There were about eighteen couples present. On Saturday next the local Tennis Club purpose holding a clubmixed doubles tournament.
It is rumoured there is likely to be a very big demand for stock at the next sale to be held on comilg away at a great rate now. The severe thunderstorm, which passed over this district a few days ago was very hard on young turkeys and newly shorn sheep, great numbers of them dying.
