SHOW STOCK.

RAILWAY DEPARTMENT'S ATTITUDE. A resolution was passed at the recent conference of A. and P. Associations urging that a special fat stock train should be provided on the Main Trunk lines once a week during the autumn months, and that better pi'ovision should be made for show stock, and this resolution was duly forwarded to the Minister for Railways. The secretary of the conference (Mr Edwin Hall), has been advised by the Minister that where the amount of stock offering is sufficient, the Department rues special trains at considerable expense to meet the wishes of consignors, and where the traffic is considerable special arrangements are made to facilitate the haulage of wagons of stock on sale days. If, however, the requirements in any particular district necessitate additional trains or faster services, the question will be considered if definite proposals are made.
