FAREWELL SOCIAL AT KIHIKIHI.

Prior to their departure from Kihikihi Mr and Mrs D. J. Cooper were entertained by their friends a,t a farewell social on Tuesday evening. Although the boisterous weather interfered somewhat with the attendance, the evening was thoroughly enjoyable. Mr and Mrs Cooper were the recipients of an illuminated address, and Mrs Cooper of a silverbacked hair brush and hand mirror, from local residents. The members of the Kihikihi Football Club also presented them with a silver-mounted salad bowl as a token of the esteem in which they were held. Mr Grace, in making the presentation, referred to the keen interest Mr Cooper had always shown in sport, and to Mrs Cooper's geniality. The Rev. Father Lynch (who had shown an active interest in the promotion of the testimonial) also spoke in high terms of the admirable qualities of the guests of the evening, and joined with MiGrace in wishing them success and prosperity in their new sphere. Mr Cooper responded in cordial and appropriate terms. During the evening Mrs Cyril Towsey, Miss McFlynn, and Mr W. Hume-Jones kindly rendered songs, which were received with great appreciation. Miss Herlihy, Mr P. N. Wurr, and Mr E. Bedford kindly supplied music for the dancing, which was kept up till a late hour.
