RAILWAY STATION.
The announcement that building operations have been commenced at the local railway station will be received with pleasure by all. On Saturday the work was commenced, and in another six weeks our railway station will present a very different appearance, and will much better meet the demands of a rapidly-increasing trade. Considerable additions are being made to the actual building, while the platform is to be extended for some distance.
The new building, together with the present structure, will be subdivided and re-arrangltt so as to provide extra accommodation for both the public and staff. A verandah with lead lights will be erected the full length of the building, thus providing a longfelt want for shelter.
Evidently the Department is fully alive to the need of more and better accommodation to cope with, according to the Department's own returns, a rapidly increasing trade. Local residents have long felt the need of better accommodation, and it is pleasing to look forward to relief from the many inconveniences which have been felt through the want of better accommodation,
