CASEIN MANUFACTURE.

DISCUSSED BY A DAIRY COMPANY. Casein manufacture was discussed at the annual meeting of the Mangatoki Dairy Co. The chairman explained an offer which a casein company was making to dairy companies to enter into an agreement for five years, but he thought that if casein manufacture was going to be a success more would be heard of it shortly, and it would be worth while waiting a little, with a view to the dairy companies taking it up themselves. It was also mentioned that the Midhirst and Stratford Companies had rejected the proposals of the casein company. Another point made was that in countries such as Australia and the Argentine the casin could be dried in the sun, but in New Zealand artificial drying might have to be resorted to, and it was questionable whether the artifically-clried material would be equal in the finish to the sun-dried.
