TE AWAMUTU CRICKET CLUB.

<§>■ The annual meeting of the above Club was held • at Luk's Hotel on Wednesday evening. Mr E. A. Cox presided, and there, was a fair attendance of members present. The following report was read : —" The committee have to report that the past season, apart from the financial aspect, has been a most successful one. The membership list shows a total of close on 40 members. It is gratifying to note that a good percentage of members are young people just commencing their cricket careers, for it is undoubtedly on the young players that the future success of the club depends. During the season our club was represented in eight inter-club matches, the first match of the. season with Otorohanga, and the last match of the season with Matiere. On tallying up the runs of all the matches of this season in the. score book, I find that the runs scored by the different clubs that played Te Awamutu total 747, and it is rather a coincidence that our own runs should total the same —747. The thanks of the club are due to Mr W. G. Abbott for his generosity in presenting a bat to the most improved player.

The balance-sheet showed receipts to the extent of £2O 2s 4d, with a credit balance of is id. The\ material purchased for reorganising the club amounted to £9 ss : Bd. So Jhat, when allowance is made for this, the season has, from a financial aspect, been a fairly successful one. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — President, S W. v G. Park, Esq.; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Wallace, H. Luks, and M. S. Laurie ; captain, Mr J. Laurie; vicecaptain, Mr G. Bowden ; committee, Messrs L. North, J. Ansell, H. Higgins, A. J. Blythe, the captain and vice-captain ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. H. Ansell; auditor, Mr E. A. Cox.

Mr C. B. Stewart tendered his resignation as secretary and treasurer to the Club on account of his departure from the district. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mr Stewart for his untiring efforts to make the season so successful a one. It was decided that the subscription be the same as for the past season.

The Revs. F. W. Clarke, W. Woollass, J. A. Lamond, and Father Lynch were elected life members of the. Club. A committee was formed to draft rules.

The question of arranging for the opening day and the selection of teams were left in the hands of the committee.

The meeting expressed appreciation of the kindness extended by Messrs W. G. Park and W. G. Abbott during the past season.
