NEW POST OFFICE.
— ■■ ■ ■ - Public Works Office, Wellington. Waipa Post, Te Awamutu. “Post ,\Office contract now signed. Contractor, R. Orr, Auckland. Amount £1270.” / H. J. H. Blow, Under-Secretary P.W. The news contained in above telegram will be welcome to every resident, and to none more so than the officials concerned. The contract time is six months, so that we now know when the long looked for necessity will be ready for our use. The middle of February should find the new structure open for the transaction of business. In promising our readers to keep them informed in this connection, we relied for the fulfilment of it upon our experience of the courtesy of the Undersecretary for Public Works. That our confidence was not misplaced has been proved by the promptitude with which that gentleman has favoured our request for information, and we would here express the appreciation of his action which is felt by our readers as well as ourselves. The new office will occupy the site of the present one, the latter being removed to another part of the Post Office grounds, to be used for storage purposes, battery room and linemen’s workshop.
