We are in receipt of the annual report of the State Fire Insurance Department. From the revenue account it is seen that premiums amounting to £40,551 were paid. Against this the losses by fire amounted to £18,913, and after deducting all other expenses £7,046 is placed to the fire insurance fund. It is anticipated that the figures for the current year will show even a greater increase than is shown by a comparison of any former balance sheet,
