THE RAILWAY STATION.
(TO THE EDITOR.)
SIR, —I am glad that the question of the proposed patching of our railway station by the Government has found its way into such able hands as those of your correspondent of Friday's issue. I hope that others will take up this matter with enthusiasm, for surely the people of Te Awamutu, by their patience and endurance, have earned a little consideration from the Government. To attempt to add on to, or renovate in any way,- that poor miserable little shed, which has had to- do service as a railway station for so long, would be nothing less than bungling, and ludicrous in the extreme. Te Awamutu .is not now in a state of coma, but has awakened in stern reality, and realises to the full every good thing that lies before her. Nothing but progression will satisfy her. We don't want patched-up buildings, and our Government offices must compare favourably with the business premises and the homes which are so quickly going up around us. We are proud of our little town, and our citizens who hold public office are holding up. the flag right loyally, and the day is not far distant when Te Awamutu will compare favourably with any other town in the Dominion.- This lam sure is the desire of ' every faithful citizen. —I am, etc., DULCIE.
