The Band of Hope meeting, which was announced for next Friday evening was postponed until Thursday, 13th inst. when a first class programme will be given. Mrs William' Calder, wife of the Bishop's Commissary is paying a visit to Te Awamutu, and will address a women's meeting on Friday afternoon next at halfpast 3 o'clock in St. John's Church on the work of St. Mary's Women's Home, Otahuhu. In ten years the population of New Zealand has increased by 44 per cent; Australia's population 17 per cent. New Zealand's population went from 772,718 to 1,107,811 ; Australia's rose from 3.773,801 to 4,449,493The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, and Sir John Findlay are returning to New Zealand by the steamer Ruapehu, which is on this trip being diverted from her course. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the vessel will leave Plymouth on July 8, calling at Marseilles on July 13 for passengers. The Ruapehu's route will be via Suez, calling at Port Said, Colombo and Hobart, and she is expected to reach Wellington on August 22.
