MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS DELAYED.
FOUR CARRIAGES DERAILED.
(By Telegraph.—This Day.) The south-bound Main Trunk express was derailed at Te Kauwhatu (Wairangi) last night. The engine and ppstah'car remained on the line, but the four carriages immediately following left the * rails. The remaining carriages did not leave the rails. Another train was despatched to the scene of the accident, and passengers and mails were able to proceed after a 7 hours' delay. The line was clear for traffic by 7 a.m. this morning. No casualties occurred, and the damage to permanent way and rolling stock is very small. The cause of the mishap is uncertain. The train was travelling at the rate of 30 miles an hour at the time.
ENGINE DERAILED AT •HAMILTON.

As the Rotorua goods train was entering the railway yards at Hamilton at 1 p.m. yesterday, the front wheels of the engine left the rails. Before being brought to a standstill, the engine was carried off the rails. No damage was done to engine or permanent way.
