Owing to increase in business, Messrs Heerclegen and Co., fruiterers, have found it necessary to enlarge their premises. Congratulations. At St. John’s Church on Sunday morning a special service will be held, when the stained glass windows erected to the memory of the late Mr and Mrs Cottrell will be unveiled. The Rev. F. W. Clarke will conduct the service, and it is anticipated that a large number will be present, and a sufficient amount collected for the purpose of renovating the church. A ghastly tragedy occurred at Fordell on Coronation Day, when a man named J. M. Gibbons committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. He left a letter stating that he would set fire to a stack of manuka wood, throw himself on it, and cut his throat. The police discovered the skeleton of a man upon a quantity of smouldering wood. The pupils of the 4th, sth, and 6th Standards of the ie Awamutu 'Public School are to go to Hamilton on alternate Mondays, after July 3rd, to attend the woodwork and cookery classes at the Hamilton Manual Training School. Free railway passes will be issued to the children, and every consideration given to further their education by the attendance at these classes.
