The Waipa Post. PUBLISHED EVERY TUESDAY AND FRIDAY. FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 1911. THE KING CROWNED.
"God send him many years of suhsh'ne days."
Richard 11., iv. i. THIS is the earnest wish of millions of loyal subjects, and in it we most heartily join. The King enters upon a great and glorious heritage, and while we have no desire to depreciate the worth of those high and gracious ones ,of hallowed memory who have governed Britain in the past, we can most sincerely say that the twentieth century has given us a king whose qualifications for his high and important position are of the very highest kind. George V. is a many-sided monarch, who has endless points of contact with his subjects. No king of England has ever been crowned who had a better knowledge of his people than our present sovereign. He has travelled greatly and observed widely. He possesses conspicuous ability, and has a Viigh sense of devotion to duty, and without question has already won the complete confidence of his people. In our gracious King patriotism is able to identify itself in attachment to what is both personal and permanent. A king is a symbol of something unearthly and undying, but our gracious sovereign King George V. is also to every one of us a friend and a father of most human flesh and blood. May he reign long over us. God save the King! Long live the King !
