The Waipa Post. PUBLISHED EVERY TUESDAY AND FRIDAY. TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 1911. THE CORONATION.
THE arrangements for the Coronation festivities in Te Awamutu are well in hand, and if the elements are at all favourable, the proceedings should go off well. Commencing at 9.45, the school children will attend at the school and salute the Flag. 'At 10.15 the Territorials and Cadets, headed by the Town Band, will assemble near the Anglican Church.' The procession will then be formed, in which all and sundry will have an opportunity of taking part. Having formed up, they will proceed to the Victoria Park if the weather is fine enough, and if not, to the Public Hall, where the religious service will commence at 11 o'clock. The Rev. F. W. Clarke, WWoollass, and J. A. Lamond will take part in the service. At the conclusion of the service, the Territorials and cadets will line up and salute. At 1.30 p.m. the children will assemble near the school, and a programme of races, etc., will be gone through. A lot of prizes have to be run for both by boys and girls. Several squads of boys have been taught physical drill by Sergeant-Major Hatt, and will give an exhibition, prizes being given to the best squad. At 3.45 p.m. all the boys and girls will be entertained to a substantial tea in the Hall. A strong ladies' committee have this work in hand, and the young people will enjoy this part of the programme. Tea being over, the boys and girls will line up, and each receive the medal presented by the Government to all school children, and also a souvenir card
presented by the local committee, on which the child's name and age v/ill be written, thus associating the Coronation of Their Majesties, in the owner's mind, with Te- Awamutu. This finishes the afternoon's programme. In the evening a concert, for which a first-class programme has been arranged, will be given, to be followed by a dance and supper. As we said, all the arrangements are well in hand, and if the sun will shine and give us a bright and warm clay, everything will go I off as merrily as a marriage bell, j
