TAUTARI.

The social to provide funds for the lining of the Tautari Hall was held on Friday evening, and was well attended. Songs were contributed by Misses N. Mitchell, M. Ferguson, M. Bergemann, Messrs C. Crook, O. Price Owen, and Mackwood; recitations by Mrs J. Adams, M. Ferguson, and M. Bergemann. Mr J. Philip gave a violin solo, and Messrs O. Price Owen and W. Hume Jones sang a duet. All the items were very well rendered the audience showing its appreciation by frequently calling for encores. Paritoa and Whareroa, of Parawera, went through several Native dances. Dancing was kept up until the early hours, and in this section Messrs J. Raigaard and F. Kurth proved themselves very efficient M.C.'s. Music was supplied by Messrs J. Philip and J. Jemmet. A feature of the evening was the Shield which was brought for inspecrion by Mr Mathes. This Shield was won by the local creamery for the best-managed creamery of the N.Z. Dairy Association. Supper, as provided by the ladies, was very much enjoyed. The takings were just on £lO, including a guinea donated by W. Hume Jones. The committee (Messrs A. Ferguson, J. R.aigaard J. Fisher, F. Bergamann (secretary) are to be congratulated on the success of the evening.
