VALUABLE IMPORTATION OF ENGLISH CATTLE.
The Drayton Grange, which arrived in Auckland on Monday, brought the consignment of cattle imported by Wm. Taylor, Esq.. of Green Hill, Te Awamutu, from England. All the cattle stepped off the boat in splendid condition, having suffered no ill effects from the 66 days voyage from Liverpool. They have been in the hands of an experienced cattleman, who was specially engaged to bring them out, and in whose charge they still remain while in quarantine. On the expiration of this term'(4o days) they will be conveyed to Green Hill, the date Of their arrival being about July 14th. Experts who have seen the cattle,, so far are of opinion that they are a very valuable addition to the whole country. The Shorthorn bull, ''Bletchley Admiral," is a splendid specimen of his breed, and all the Lincoln Reds (1 bull and 9 heifers) are considered to be very good dairy types of cattle. Frpmsuch well-known breeders of Lincoln Reds as Evens, Chatterton, Wilkinson and Crawley, whose names so frequently appear in the prize winning lists of English show grounds, it is evident that the consignment must be a very valuable one, and well worthy of the favourable impression they have created with the experienced judges who have as yet seen them. ,
In future issues we expect to publish the records made by Red Lincoln cattle.
