The settlers of this settlement are pushing ahead with the clearing of their sections, _ and the grass sown this season is coming on well. Several of them hope to be able to start milking next season. There have been several very sharp frosts lately, the ice one morning being nearly Y% an inch thick, but the days have been almost like summer.

The bridge over the swamp leading to some of the back sections is completed, after a delay of nearly twelve months.

There have been quite a number of land seekers passing through here lately on their way to Wharepuhanga, and all. express themselves well pleased with-the appearance of the district.
