Commandant Delarey telegraphed to Pretoria that ho successfully engaged the relief column during tho whole of Wednesday, but one of his officers withdrew in the evening without his knowledge, and left a way open into the town. Advices received from Delagoa Bay state that the British captured the entire Boer force and guns outside Mafeking on the 17th. It is understood that the relief column was commanded by Colonel B. Mahon, covering 210 miles in 12 days. Commandant De Wet (uot tho famous fighting general of that name) offered to Wrrender with 1000 men at Lindley if •ent to their farms. They were bidden to surrender unconditionally. The Progressives at Pretoria, including members of the Judiciary, are seeking to depose Kruger and the Executive, with » view to tendering submission. The Esprcss states that Kruger personally telegraphed to Lord Salisbury in an exceedingly humble strain, in which he proposed certain terms of pence. The Queen was serenaded by a torchlight procession, headed by the First Life Guards’ Band, and tho Eton boys. On Saturday the “Te Deum ” was •Mg as an anthem in most of the churches. The Benchers of Gray’s Inn invited the Federal delegates to hear Lord William Cecil preach. Four thousand attended. SYDNEY, Yesterday.
