HAMPDEN.

[Own Correspondent.]

On Saturday afternoon a football match was played between Hampden and Onga Onga, resulting in a win for Hampden by nine points, three tries, to eight, two trios, ftne of which was converted. The game was splendidly contestod throughout. The home team won the toss, and at half time the score stood Onga Onga 5 points, Tikokino nil. In the second half the latter scored three tries to the former’s one, and thus won as above stated. The players seemed very evenly matched and the excitemeut towards the end was intense. After the match Mrs A. A. Ingram entertained both teams at tea. A most enjoyable dance in the Oddfellows’ Hall was held in the evening, many players from both teams taking part. Owing to a difficulty in procuring rifles our club has had to defer its opening day.
