Auckland Club Destroyed.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, This day. The Auckland club was destroyed by fire early this morning. The fire is supposed to have originated in the laundry. The first intimation of fire was received from some men, who discovered the flames, breaking in the front door. The inmates had a narrow escape. “ Long Drive Walker ” had to jump from the window. • He was severely bruised and had his ribs broken. Later. At the Auckland Club fire the billiard tables were saved. The lower part of the building will probably not require to be rebuilt. The insurances on the building total £4GOO. New Zealand £1315, South British £2315, Sun £IOOO. The insurances on the contents are :—New Zealand £350, Sun £llOO. Wine and stocks : New Zealand £6OO, Sun £4OO.
