Education Board.
At the last meeting of the Education Board, the following correspondence relating to this district was dealt with:— Dannevirke—Miss Marsh’s resignation as assistant mistress accepted, she having been appointed to the Wimbledon school. Committee to be informed that Miss Guy cannot be appointed assistant mistress till she has served another year. Appointment of pupil teachers deferred. Application for papering in headmaster’s house and new wash-house referred to Mr Miller. Kaikora—Mr John Caughley appointed headmaster. Makotuku Application for an additional chimney in the master’s residence refused. Makaretu—Miss Balfour appointed mistress. Applications to be invited for the position of pupil teacher. Ormondville- Mr Miller to report re fencing, sanitation, etc. Porangahau—Complaint received that certain work in connection with the buildings*had not been done, and committee to be informed in reply that the job would not be taken off the contractor’s hands until completed. Tenders to be invited for fencing. Patangata—Application for a grant of £2O towards repairs to building referred to Mr Miller with power to act. Umutaoroa Request that Mr Newman be appointed a member of the school committee granted. Waipawa Application to have desks raised referred to the inspector to report. Fencing, drainage, and other work authorised at a cost of £BO, the sum of £57 7s Gd having been received from the Government towards making good damage caused by the recent fire. Woodville —Application by Miss Fawbert that her license to teach be continued until she had another opportunity of going up for examination for a teacher’s certificate to be favorably recommended to the Education Department.
