ONGA ONGA.

(Own Correspondent.) A football match was played here on Saturday, between the boys of the Waipawa and Onga Onga schools. The game resulted in a win for the local team by 5 points to 3. The Onga Onga boys have improved very much since last year, owing to Mr McKenzie’s ooachiug. The school children have purchased a Union Jack, and the committee are erecting a flag staff on which to hoist the flag when news of the relief of Mafeking is received. A football match will be played between the Onga Onga and Tikokino teams at Hampden, on Saturday next. The following comprise the Onga Onga team :—Fullback, J. Dinwiddie ; threequarters, W. Arrow ; H. Collins, A. Bennett ; halves, C. Brown, W. McGreevy ; forwards, T. Ellingliara, D. Moran, G. Ireland, J. Steed, E. Wilson, H. Newling, F. Hobbs, H. Buchanan, F. Hastie. Emergencies, W. Pettit, H. Reid, A. Rhodes, J. Aikman, S. Coles. Keen interest was taken in the matches between these teams last year.
