Victoria College.

[Per Press Association.] Wellington, This day. Tho Victoria College Council has under consideration a scheme to get rid of scholarships, which are found to be a severe drag on the finances. The proposal is to divide them into two classes, one tenable at a secondary school and one at Victoria College, tho latter to bo fewer than the first. The former are to be placed under the control of the Education Department and the funds provided by the Government. The latter are to be controlled by the college, and an extra grant will be made for them. This will leave the annual grant exclusively for college purposes.
