London, December 20. In a great storm in the Sea of Marmora, a French steamer sank through collision, and 150 persons were drowned. There is an agitation among the students of St. Petersburgh in consequence of a change in classes. The military were called out, and dispersed the crowd. Many arrests were made, and rigorous measures are being adopted. A Liberal candidate has been elected by a great majority for County 7 Derry 7 . At a meeting of the committee of the Sydney Exhibition, it was stated that France had applied for immense space, Belgium exhibits largely 7, and Italy 7 and Germany are progressing favorably. The Chimborazo has arrived at Suez. December 21. The marriage of the Duke of Cumberland to Princess Thy r ra was celebrated to-day. Bombay, December 21. General Brown will occupy Jellalabad to-day. The report of the flight of the Ameer is still current. It is stated that he left Yakoob Khan in power. It is stated on good authority 7 that the Ameer has left Cabul for Turkestan in company with the returning officers of the Russian mission. The troops are deserting Yakoob Khan. December 21, night. An official despatch just received fully 7 confirms the statement of the flight of the Ameer into Turkestan, leaving his son, Yakoob Khan in power. [Special to the Press Agency.] London, December 21. The Committee of the London Stock Exchange has expelled four members, and suspended two others, for unfair dealings in Bank shares. St. Petersburg, December 21. The Golos announces a convention between Russia and the Ameer of Afghanistan. It recognises the distressed condition of the Ameer, and the obligation upon the Czar to support the integrity and independence of Afghanistan. Melbourne, December 21. Lopham, Angus, and Sinythe are the lowest tenderers for the Daylesford railway, 22 miles, at £86,000. Sydney, December 22. The brig Iserbrook, having been badly injured by fire, was scuttled. The captain was killed and the mate seriously burnt by the explosion. She was insured for one hundred pounds. One thousand miners at Newcastle and Wollongong have resolved not to coal the Company’s steamers. Mediation in reference to the strike has again failed.
