The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report:— OHAUPO SALE. At our Ohaupo sale yesterday 480 head of cattle and 300 sheep were penned. There was good competition, and all sold readily at prices slightly in advance, of Itea sales, except ore line of 3yr old steers_ in low condition. Fat cows made £5 to £5 ss; springing heifers, £4 15s to £0 ss; Syr to 3iyr old steers. £4 13s to £s'los; 2Jyr old steers, £3 19s to £4 2s; 20 months to 2yr old steers, £3 5s to £3 Ss; IS months steers, £2 12s to £2 16s; 2yr and 2.jyr old heifers in calf. £3 7s 6d to £4 12s; steer calves, £1 16s; heifer calves, £1 10s; others, mixed sexes, £1 8s to £1 10s; empty cows and heifers in forward condition. £3 7s 6d to $3 18s; woolly lambs, 8s 2d; full mouth ewes in low condition. 7s Bd.

Lamb: The market is firm, with a good demand for all descriptions. Average prices: Canterbury, SJd, other New Zealand, sd. Beef: The market is firm, with an improved demand. Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light. Supplies of American chilled are small. "Average prices: New Zerland hindquarters, 4id; forequarters, 35d. Butter: The market is dull, with a downward tendency. Supplies are increasing, and average prices of "Neve Zealand choicest, 109s; Australia, 105s: Siberia. 107s; Danish. 117s. Cheese; The market is quiet, with a tendency in favour of buyers. Average prices: New Zealand finest white, 595; coloured, 58s. Hemp: The market is quiet with rather steadier prices Soft New Zealand, good fair, £25; fair, £24; Manila fair current, £25; forward shipment good fair, £24 10s; fair, £23 10s: Manila, £24. The week’s output from Manila was 28,000 bales. Kauri.Gum: The market is steady with fair business doing. Stock on hand, 362 tons. Current prices are as follows; Ordinary to fair threequarter scraped, £8 10s; fair half scraped, £5 2s Cd; brown fair half to threequarrter, scraped £4 10s; brown pickings, common to good £2 ss; bush fair to good pale amber, scraped, £8 10s. Wheat: The market is dull and unsettled. . Oats; The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Beans: The market is steady, and prices are well maintained, but buyers are cautious. Cocksfoot Seed: The market is very dull, and there is scarcely any demand. New Zealand bright clean 171b seed, on spot, averages 60s. Wool: The market remains firm.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, Hamilton, have received the following cable from their London office under date 6th inst:— 1 ‘Butter: Buyers are holding back expecting to do better later on.
