Ordinary beer and porter contains from 2 to 5 per cent, of alcohol, while samples of beverages sold as temperance drinks analysed by Imperial Government analysts have been found to contain up to 12 per cent. The high percentages are accidental, presumably due to natural fermentation taking place after the bottling.
