Tennis Tournament.
The Hamilton Lawn Tennis tournament opened on Saturday, and was continued yescerday. The weather • on Saturday was all that could be desired, but the rain on Sunday made the courts rather heavy yesterday. There was a large entry, many of the players coming from Auckland, Thames, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Paeroa, and Kawhia. On both days there was a large at- : tendance of spectators, the keenest interest being taken in the play, some of the games being very close and exciting. The management of the tournament left nothing to be desired, and the committee—Messrs Matthew, Smith, and Green, with Mr J. A. Sellar as hon. sec—had their hands full, but the visiting players also gave considerable assistance. Owing to the large number of entries the committee were obliged to reduce the number of games up in each event.
