Butter has been raised to famine prices in Glasgow. Not for fifty years has the supply been so scarce or the prices so high. It was mentioned in a Court case in Glasgow that the Inland Revenue stamp for lid which decorates the shilling bottle or packet of patent medicine brings in £300,000 annually.
