Hamiiton High School.
At last night's meeting of the, Hamilton West District High School Committee correspondence was read in answer to enquiries as to the position with regards to the conversion of District High Schools at Whangarei, Thames, and Dannevirke into secondary schools: The secretary of the Whangarei High School wrote forwarding syllabus. There were 90 scholars on the roll. The fees are, one of a family, £8 8s per year; two, £7 7s; three, £6 6s each. The secretary of the Thames High School wrote that the attendance was 75. Staff 3. Fees per annum £8 Bs. The secretary of the Dannevirke High School wrote that there is an attendance of over 80 pupils, the fees charged are £lO, staff 3, salaries, £330, £165, and £125. The headmaster, Mr Worsley, in a memo, stated that at the Hamilton West District High School the subjects taught were: English Grammar, English Literature, Latin, French, Algebra, Geometry,' Arithmetic, Botany, and History. The chairman stated that the fees paid by paying pupils were 10s a term, or £2 per year. At Dannevirke pupils not holding free places were charged £2 16s per term, or £8 8s per year, three terms to the year, but where two members of one family attend, the amount was reduced to £2 9s per term, or £7 7s for the year; and where three of one family, £2 2s or £6 6s per ye ar.
