N.Z. Farmers' Uuion.

OTOROHANGA BRANCH. The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Saturday. There were present —Mr John Ormsby in the chair, Messrs Cater, Harold Matthews, R. G. Matthews, A. J. Ross, Ranby, Rogers, Viccarry, Turner, and H. M. Quin, hon. sec. and treasurer. —New Member.— Mr Sims, of Te Kuiti, was duly elected a member of this branch of the union. —Otorohanga Railway Station.— Mr G. Matthews proposed, seconded by Mr Ranby, that the secretary write to Mr Greenslade, M.P., in order to obtain, if possible, the volume of business done to and from the Otorohanga railway station, trucking yards, and goods shed. —Prime Minister's Visit.— Mr Harold Matthews proposed, seconded by Mr Rogers, that Messrs Ormsby, A. J. Ross, and R. G. Matthews be a deputation to wait upon the Hon. Sir Joseph Ward upon his arrival in the district, with a view to bringing before his notice matters of importance to the district.—Carried.

—Saleyards.—

Mr Harold Matthews proposed, seconded by Mr A. J. Ross, that Messrs Viccarry, Ormsby, R. G. Matthews, and H. M. Quin, with power to add to their number, be the union's representatives to meet Dalgety and Co.'s agent to discuss the question of saleyards for Otorohanga.—Carried. Mr Ranby proposed, seconded by Mr A. J. Ross, that the secretary write to the Farmers' Auctioneering Company asking them whether they were going to erect saleyards at Otorohanga or not. —Carried. —Provincial Conference. — Mr Ranby proposed, seconded by Mr R. G. Matthews, that Mr H M. Quin be this branch's representative at the provincial conference in Auckland on May 21st and 22nd, 1908, and that he be allowed five guineas for his expenses.—Carried. —Branch's Executive.— Mr Ranby proposed that Messrs Ormsby, Viccarry, Harold Matthews, R. G. Matthews, and the mover, Mr Ranby, be the executive for this branch; three to form a quorum. Seconded by Mr A. J. Ross, and carried.
