Railway Accident.

By Telegraph. —Press Association. Paeroa, Last Night. Last night as the late goods train from Frankton to Paeroa was nearing Mangaiti, a half draught horse got on the line and galloped ahead of the engine for about a hundred yards. On reaching the bridge the horse fell with his legs between the sleepers, and before the driver could pull up, the engine struck the horse, cutting it to atoms. The engine was lifted on the body of the horse, and was clear of the rails, but fortunately it was not thrown off the line, or it would have gone over the bridge and fallen into the creek.
